2013-2020
From 2013 until 2020, RJAC invested in community and transformative grassroots organizing and leadership. We incubated and nourished the following projects, now their own independent organizations:
Communities Over Cages: Close the Jail ATL

Racial Justice Action Center co-launched and led the Communities Over Cages: Close the Jail ATL Campaign with Women on the Rise GA. The campaign, which seeks to close the Atlanta City Detention Center and replace it with a Center for Equity, Wellness & Freedom is now led by Women on the Rise with the support of powerful organizations making up the Campaign Anchor Team. Women on the Rise is a policy-advocacy organization of formerly-incarcerated women targeted and/or impacted by the criminal legal system. Women on the Rise works to educate, heal, and empower ourselves, one another, and our communities to demand justice, dignity, and liberation for all.

SNaPCo is a Black trans-led, broad-based collaborative to restore an Atlanta where every person has the opportunity to grow and thrive without facing unfair barriers, especially from the criminal legal system.
